Anastasia Krivenko: The Way Out (revisited and expanded)
Anastasia Krivenko (b. 1981, Moscow, USSR) is a visual artist based in Paphos, Cyprus, working primarily with soft pastel and painting. After more than fifteen years as a graphic designer and digital artist in Russia, she relocated to Cyprus in 2018, where her practice shifted toward traditional, tactile media and process-driven work.
Krivenko’s work explores themes of instability, memory, and the transformation of space. Drawing on architectural interiors, urban structures, and landscapes, she creates fragile, dreamlike environments that feel both familiar and unsettled. Her images exist between presence and disappearance, structure and dissolution, reflecting a world in which spaces no longer provide a stable sense of orientation or belonging.
The Way Out (revisited and expanded) presents a series of works shaped by recurring dream imagery and fragmented memory. Using the delicate and unstable qualities of soft pastel, Krivenko does not simply depict instability—she embeds it within the work itself. The exhibition unfolds through shifting spatial states where structures compress, landscapes fragment, and the idea of escape remains open, uncertain, and unresolved.
Krivenko holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts with distinction from Moscow Pedagogical State University (2003). She has exhibited internationally, including in juried exhibitions by the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS), and is a member of the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts (E.KA.TE).
